Week 6

This week we wanted to film our first video, but we both had stuff to do after school so we had to work with what we had, and we just started working on our website again. For this week we created the stretches page. On this page we will have different stretches for the avid soccer players to do before soccer in order not to get hurt. For example, we have some stretches to stretch out your legs like walking lunge and quad stretches, and for the upper body we have things like arm swings. we also have warm ups that people can do to warm up their bodies. Some of the warm ups work on speed and the other ones work on getting your muscles warmed up. A good way to start up the warm ups is with a jog around the field. Next you want to do stuff like A-skips and high knees.

Week 5

For this week, we decided to ask around for some help in our videos, such as our freinds who have been playing soccer for a long time as well. The benefits of having these people in our videos in addition to us, is that we get to receive advice from other people on what we should put in our videos, such as the stretches and drills. They would also be featured in our videos to help out with showing how to do our skills. We also have made some improvements to our website such as creating the pages for each of the different skill levels that we will be teaching to. We have added in our pages for the new people and beginners, the normal average player, and the

College

This week we were asked to explain how our genius hour project will help us stand out to colleges. Our project will help us stand out to colleges because they can see we are reaching out to our community and helping. With our website and training videos we colleges could see our interests in sports as well. Doing this project we have learned time management and how to work better as a team which are important skills colleges look for. Colleges look for college hours in their applicants and even though the time we spent on this project doesn’t count towards those hours colleges will see we are doing this, not for the hours, but to help. With having the different levels of drills in our videos colleges will see that we are not just doing this to have a good time or to improve ourselves, but to help all three level players. The ability to instruct someone how to play a sport will show colleges we have leader like traits. This project is a project few people, and few schools do so through college’s long line of applicants our resumes will stand out. Colleges want students that have a balanced academic life as well as extracurricular life. This project will help fulfill our extracurricular activities. Using our interest to benefit others around us will show colleges we want to help the people around us.  We really hope this project helps us out in future experiences and might help us stand out to colleges.

Pablo
This week, we were asked how our genius hour projects will help us stand out from the rest of the applicants when we apply for colleges. Most of the time when we go to apply for the colleges that we want, we are looked at mostly by our academic abilities, or if you are good enough your ability to play sports. There are many other people who apply for the colleges that have the same GPA as you and does the same sports you do, but these projects that we are doing for genius hour can help the colleges see that not only do we have knowledge, but that we also how to use this knowledge. Because most other schools have not implemented genius hour into their plan, the other applicants will not have the skills that we have that we have retained from doing these genius hour projects. Some of these being how to record videos and promote a website while managing the website as well. Our genius hour project is also showing that we are passionate about our sports, and the coaches can see that, and they will see that we wish to continue working with soccer and training. this will help us direct our future path as well as getting us into good colleges. By this I mean that this website could be something that we continue to do well later on in life. It could also drive us to work in the fields of athletics, and preferably in the soccer and training fields.

 Week 4

This week we started to plan out what we are going to show in our videos. Along with planning out what is going to be in our videos, we also decided when we were going to shoot the different videos, and the different parts of the videos. We plan on shooting our videos in the late part of January, and and we will also be shooting our videos in February too. For our first video, it will be the video for the beginers, and people who are just looking into trying out the sport. In this video we will begin to show people the basics on how to kick the ball, how to shoot the ball, and how to pass the ball. Along with showing what to do to play soccer we will also have a part of the video that will teach the viewers about the basic rules of the sport. In the next video, we will be moving on from the very basic stuff to the stuff that is a little more advanced. This will be for the players that know how to play and the basic rules of the game but still want to be better and want to take it a llittle bit more seriously. We would showing some more drills, and some stretches to do to not be sore. There is also still lots of room for improvement too, so we will also be making a video for the more advanced players. this video would be for the people who have been playing for a while and are looking for some more advanced skills to learn.
